Chemical Peel Candidates
Have you ever heard of a chemical peel and thought, “I wonder if it could help me?” If so, here are some common concerns that candidates typically experience:
- Lines around the mouth and the eyes
- Skin discoloration due to the sun and other environmental factors
- Dull skin that is lackluster in texture and tone
- Acne-prone or acne-scarred skin
At our practice in Salt Lake City, chemical peel options are tailored to a patient’s specific skin issues. Because there are different levels of peels available, we are able to treat a wide variety of patients, each with unique concerns. The best way to find out if the treatment is right for you is to meet with Dr. Reuben and have him assess your skin. He can tell you which level of peel will benefit you.
The Dr. Reuben Difference
If you want a fast way to revive your skin, a chemical peel may be your solution.
Dr. Reuben will determine if you could benefit from a TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) or a phenol peel. A TCA peel is deep peel that removes the outer layer of skin to reveal the fresh, smooth layer underneath. For more significant concerns, a phenol peel works on a deeper level than a TCA peel, and is one of the strongest chemical peels offered. This peel treats deeper lines and wrinkles, as well as coloration and texture.
Regardless of the peel you choose, to begin your treatment, the solution will be applied topically to your skin. After it is applied, it is left in place for a specific amount of time, which is dependent on how deeply Dr. Reuben wants the solution to penetrate. Afterwards, a skin care regimen will be outlined for your care at home during the recovery phase.
What to Expect After Your Chemical Peel Treatment
After your treatment, you will likely experience some redness and tenderness. This can be managed with medication and cool compresses. Lighter peels may produce flaking and peeling that is not much worse than a sunburn. Deeper peels can cause the skin to ooze or crust during the healing process.
Dr. Reuben will advise you about caring for your skin after your peel. You should avoid the sun and wear sunblock when going outside to make sure the new layer of skin is protected. Most chemical peel patients see results within 7 to 10 days, with improvements lasting up to many years with proper aftercare.Back to Top
